PepSea Project Update, Oct ’19- Mar ’20

Here is the latest edition of our PepSea Project Update – we hope you enjoy it! As ever it should give you all the major PepSea news and highlights…

It has been a busy period on site, and this edition is a little late in being published! As such, it does cover a longer period than normal.

Work is ongoing to battleย  the COT problem that continues to plague the waters around Malapascua. In what was a real success, we coordinated a COT Workshop in partnership with the local government and businesses of the island on how best to tackle the issue.

Following on from what we reported in the previous issue, our Fisheries Programme has gone from strength to strength with the continued profiling and registration of Malapascua’s fisherfolk.

And in addition to all of this, we have put in place the initial stages of an exciting new project, teaming up with a French company – Ecocean with a long-term goal of working with fisherfolk to replenish natural fish stocks.

And in amongst all of that…. an exciting new community managed savings scheme, local government accreditation, all of our regular volunteer activities, and some staff changes.

Oh, and a typhoon also!
